The winning singers, 2007-2008
Brooke Evers, soprano, and Michael Gallant, tenor, won performance prizes in the annual song competition sponsored by the Vocal Arts Society of Washington. Singers from the greater Washington Metropolitan area submitted short programs of songs in English and three other languages on CD. These were evaluated by the a panel of experienced musicians of the Vocal Arts Board in a blind audition to select finalists for the live competition held today. Four distinguished figures from the D.C. musical community judged the live audition, choosing these two singers to be presented by the Society in the coming year at four free public recitals of song. Following these performances, each singer will receive $2,000.
