Dear Friends of the Vocal Arts Society Since I founded the Vocal Arts Society 15 seasons ago, it has grown enormously and so have the responsibilities I have been discharging as both President and Artistic Director. Of course, during the same period I have grown 15 years older. Recently I have been finding that the tasks of both artistic direction and general administration are too demanding for one person to perform. Accordingly, at our December board meeting, I stepped down to become President Emeritus and asked the board to elect Daniel B. Silver as the Society’s new President – which it did unanimously and enthusiastically. I plan to remain indefinitely as Artistic Director, in charge of programming. Although Dan is one our newer board members, he has taken a leadership role and has shown a level of energy and devotion to the organization that I think will serve the Vocal Arts Society well. I am confident that, with Martha Ellison as Chair, Dan as President and myself as Artistic Director, supported by our other strong officers and dedicated board members, the Vocal Arts Society has the leadership needed to carry it into a future of continuing strength and artistic achievement. Our greatest asset in building towards that bright future, of course, is the loyalty and enthusiasm that we have been privileged to receive from our audience, friends and supporters. We look forward to continuing to earn your support by providing outstanding vocal recitals by some of the world’s finest singers. Sincerely,
Gerald Perman |
