To Friends of Vocal Arts:
I am writing to encourage those of you who can do so to attend any of the remaining programs scheduled by Margareta Ploder at the Austrian Embassy. I missed three of the early programs as I was out of town but received most positive reports about them. Several of our subscribers were present, as I was, at the unusual performance by Holzmair and his two guest singers and Russell Ryan at the piano in the complete Spanische Liederbuch of Wolf, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Last night I heard a magnificent Austrian soprano, Anna Maria Pammer, in a program of the Second Viennese School, i.e., Berg, Webern and Schoenberg, a program that is not likely to be heard otherwise. So, I am calling your attention to the remaining programs in this wonderful series and hope that you will make every effort to attend. These programs are a testament to the creative energy of Margareta Ploder at the Embassy, who has produced this unique history of the Lied with the highest standard of quality in the performers engaged and in the excellent program notes that succeed in enriching the experience.
