Welcome to the start of the 2005-06 Vocal Arts Society season.

Ian Bostridge and Julius Drake have carefully selected a Schubert program for us. We have been sold out since August.

We are glad to welcome many new subscribers this year. We have grown more than 15% this year, a testimony to high quality programming and our success in reaching out to lovers of voice and song in D.C. On a practical note, we would like to point out that the Opera and Symphony are also performing tomorrow so be prepared for very full parking, etc. Our house will also be full, so it will be wise to allow a little extra time.

Discovery Series in November.

Our competition winners this year are Randa Rouweyha, soprano and Jeffrey Tarr, bass. They will be performing on three occasions in November, Sunday 13th at the Westchester, Sunday 20th at St. Patricks, Annandale and Sunday 27th at the Millennium Stage, Kennedy Center. These are free recitals with commentary by Elizabeth Daniels. The recitals are an easy, inexpensive way to introduce new listeners to art song. More details will be available on the web.
