StotijnBorn in Delft in 1977, Christianne Stotijn began her musical studies as a violinist and studied both violin and voice at the Amsterdam Conservatoire gaining her solo diploma for violin in 2000. She continued her vocal studies with Udo Reinemann at the Conservatoires of Amsterdam and Metz where she graduated in 2003 with the highest distinction in both song recital and opera. Udo Reinemann continues to serve as her regular coach.

Christianne Stotijn has attended master-classes with Sarah Walker, Jard van Nes, Noelle Barker and Dame Janet Baker, and has won several prizes including being a finalist in the International Wettbewerb fur Liedkunst (Stuttgart) in 2001 as well as the 2005/06 ECHO Rising Stars and 2005 Borletti Buitoni Award.

She has given many concerts and recitals in her own country and abroad with appearances in important venues throughout Europe and the United States. Highlights of past engagements include Mahlers Ruckert Lieder with the Orchestre National de Paris at the Theatre des Champs Elysees and the Concertgebouworkest conducted by Bernard Haitink, Handel’s Messiah at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn and Kindertotenlieder as well as Brahms Alto Rhapsody with Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse and La Roque D’Antheron Festival and Frank Martin’s Der Cornet with Amsterdam Sinfonietta.

Her oratorio performances have included Bach’s Magnificat, the St. John and St. Matthew Passions, at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Duruflé Requiem which she recorded for Channel Classics, Mozart’s Requiem with Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse conducted by Claus Peter Flor and most recently Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with Concerto Koln, and Orchestre des Champs-Elysees conducted by Philippe Herreweghe

She has worked with conductors such as Jan Willem de Vriend, Jaap van Zweden, Daniel Reuss, Frans Bruggen, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky and Bernard Haitink and has performed with orchestras like the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Concerto Koln, Orchestre National de Paris, Orchestre du Capitole Toulouse, Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, Die Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. She is also sought after in recital and her accompanists are Joseph Breinl and Julius Drake.

In 2003 Christianne Stotijn made her operatic debut withReis Opera where she sang Carilda in Händel’s Arianna in Creta and in the 2004/05 season she made her debut at the Paris Opera as Pauline in Pique Dame. Future operatic engagements Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri at the Aix en Provence Festival, Varvara in Katya Kabanova at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Ottavia in L’Incoronazione di Poppea at the Netherlands Opera and Cornelia in Giulio Cesare at the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels.

Future recital and concert engagements include Des Knaben Wunderhorn with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic conducted by Mark Wigglesworth, Mahler 2nd Symphony with the Netherlands National Youth Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms conducted by Bernard Haitink, Das Lied von der Erde with the Arnhem Philharmonic and Rotterdam Philharmonic also conducted by Wigglesworth , Kindertotenlieder with VARA Radio at the Concertgebouw and St Matthew Passion with the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bernard Haitink.

Christianne Stotijn is the recipient of the 2005 Borletti Buitoni Award, BBC New Generation Artist and the 2005/06 ECHO Rising Stars As part of the ECHO Rising Stars prize she will present recitals at the Vienna Konzerthaus, Carnegie Hall, Philharmonie Cologne, Stockholm Konzerthaus, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Mozarteum Salzburg, Palais des Beaux Arts and Symphony Hall Birmingham. She also has invitations for recitals at the Wigmore Hall and Kennedy Center in Washington DC.

BreinlJoseph Breinl was born in Munich. He studied piano in Munich with Karl-Hermann Mrongovius and Gitti Pirner and made his diploma in 2001. As scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes he continued his studies at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam and studied both solo piano and song accompaniment with Willem Brons and Rudolf Jansen. In 2003 Joseph Breinl graduated his studies with the highest distinction.

During his studies he attended masterclasses with Roger Vignoles, Sarah Walker, Paul Badura-Skoda and Graham Johnson. After his masterclass Graham Johnson invited the young accompanist to come to London to work with him more intensively. Graham Johnson awarded him also the scholarship of the Klavierfestival Ruhr 2002 and became his teacher and mentor.

Joseph Breinl is currently employed as an accompanist and vocal coach at the Musikhochschule München. He was a prize winner at the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition, 2003, and with the Dutch mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn he also was awarded the ECHO Rising Star prize 2005.
 
Joseph Breinl works together regularly with Christianne Stotijn and Mattijs van de Woerd. Recent performances include also recitals with Michelle Breedt and Udo Reinemann. Since June 2004 he is also the song accompanist for the German soprano Kammersängerin Waltraud Meier.

Joseph Breinl has appeared as an accompanist at the Munich Opera Festival, Klavierfestival Ruhr, Richard-Strauss-Festival Garmisch and at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. He performed at the Munich Opera House, Beethovenhall Bonn, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall London and at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg / Austria.

Under the auspices of the ECHO Rising Star prize he and Christianne Stotijn will perform at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Megaron Athen, Philharmonie Cologne, Carnegie Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus, Stockholm Konzerthaus, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Palais des Beaux Arts Brussels, and Symphony Hall Birmingham. He also appears in recital at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris, Mozarteum Salzburg, Santory Hall Tokyo and at the Delft Chamber Music Festival.
